A joint venture (JV) partnership between Countryside and Kingston Council has secured planning consent for the regeneration of Cambridge Road Estate in the UK.

The mixed-use regeneration masterplan consists of 2,170 homes, of which 45% will be affordable.

These homes will be developed in a mix of maisonettes, flats, and houses of various sizes.

About 767 homes of the 941 affordable homes will be for social rent, 154 for intermediate tenure and 20 for shared ownership. The development will also include an additional 114 council homes.

Countryside stated that a detailed planning application for the first phase of the regeneration project has also been approved.

The first phase will include 452 homes, 15 for shared ownership and 150 for social rent.

It will also comprise 290m2 of office space, 1,250m2 of community space, 395m2 of retail/commercial space along with new public open spaces.

Construction work on the project is anticipated to commence this year.

Countryside West London & Thames Valley managing director Daniel King said: “Following the widespread support for our Cambridge Road Estate regeneration in the residents’ ballot, we are proud that our masterplan has been approved.

“We have put the community at the heart of these plans and so we are truly excited to begin delivering this vision.

“The regeneration of the Cambridge Road Estate is vitally important for local residents and the area as a whole, and so we are committed to working in partnership with the community and Kingston Council to deliver the regeneration for the benefit of existing residents and the wider community.”
