Construction of the new £72m heath care facility in the Parkhead area of Glasgow, Scotland, is set to commence in spring this year.

Financial close has been achieved on the contracts for a new heath care facility.

Hub West Scotland stated that a significant milestone has achieved in the project with its partner NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) along with Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership, Glasgow Life and Glasgow City Council.

Completion of the main building at the site is expected in the summer of 2024.

This building will contribute to the Scottish Government’s net zero carbon objectives by eliminating dependence on fossil fuels. It will also support Health Board in achieving Scotland’s first working net zero carbon health and social care facility.

This centre will feature a public library and learning and development training facilities.

The new community facility is expected to boost access to services and integrate health and social care teams and services along with stakeholders from the voluntary sector and local community in a better way.

The project design was led by the team at Hoskins Architects and supported by AECOM, Currie and Brown, ERZ Landscaping and JGA Fire Engineer.

BAM Construction has been appointed to take responsibility for the construction phase.

This centre marks as the tenth health and care centre facility to be delivered by Hub West Scotland for NHSGGC, under a £200m investment programme.

Hub West Scotland CEO Iain Marley said: ‘We are thrilled to be proceeding with the construction phase and to continue our highly valued partnerships with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Glasgow City Council and BAM Construction.

“This exemplar net zero carbon development will provide high quality facilities that enable transformational improvements in the delivery of health and social care services.

“In addition to enhancing the future delivery of community services, our focus on maximising benefits for local communities is ensuring that the project brings value through the creation of new jobs; apprenticeships and training, and business opportunities for local businesses.”
