Real estate firm Hine has commenced the construction on The Grant, a mixed-use complex of 228 luxury apartments, in Concord, California in the US.

Being developed together with investment partner MetLife Investment Management, The Grant scheme will comprise studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments ranging from 506 to 1,211ft2.

Located one block from both the Concord BART station and Todos Santos Plaza, the development spans two adjacent blocks separated by Clayton Road in downtown Concord.

The north building will comprise 139 apartment units and ground-floor retail while the south building will consist of 89 units.

Hines said that the scheme is centrally located at the intersection of I-680 and Highway 242, providing access throughout the East Bay and to San Francisco for residents.

Hines senior managing director George Clever said: “Today marks an exciting milestone for The Grant and we are thrilled to expand our multifamily portfolio in Concord. With its excellent amenities and irreplaceable location, The Grant will set a new standard for living in the East Bay.”

The scheme will feature roof deck, swimming pool, clubhouse, outdoor fitness areas, fire pits, bicycle parking and space for dogs, as well as up to 328 parking spaces.

The project is planned to be completed in the third quarter of 2022, with leasing scheduled to begin in April 2022.

Architects Orange is the design architect and landscape architect for The Grant while Haven Design Studio is the interior designer. Brown Construction is serving as the general contractor for the project.

In a press statement, Hines said: “Hines and its partners are mindful of the current impact of COVID-19 and through Brown Construction’s leadership, The Grant’s on-site team will be taking necessary safety measures into consideration as part of the construction process.”
