Construction begins on senior living community in California, US

US-based real estate developer South Bay Partners along with LAMB Properties and Columbia Pacific Advisors has commenced construction on the senior living community in California, US.

The new senior living community, known as THE VARIEL, is an eight-storey, 336-unit Class A upscale rental midrise development located at 6233 Variel Avenue in Warner Center, California.

THE VARIEL comprises 215 independent living units, 94 assisted living units and 27 memory care units along with secure structured parking.

VTBS Architects and Rodrigo Vargas Design were selected by South Bay for THE VARIEL as well as to work for many other Southern California senior living communities, which are currently in the development pipeline.

Furthermore, W.E. O'Neil Construction was selected to serve as general contractor for the new senior living community.

The project amenities will include an indoor therapy pool and spa, wellness gym, yoga studio, two theatres, conservatory, outdoor garden, dog wash and dog run as well as an art studio.

It will also include indoor/outdoor dining venues, courtyard areas with barbeque grills, fire pits, seating areas and indoor golf simulator.

Scheduled to be completed for winter of next year, the project’s location is near Westfield Topanga and The Village, Warner Tennis Center, the new Amazon grocery store and Kaiser Permanente Woodland Hills Medical Center.

Rodrigo Vargas Design principal Rodrigo Vargas said: “Living in Southern California is a very indoor-outdoor experience.

“So even if residents of THE VARIEL are indoors, there's always a view to gardens, a view to greens, a view to sky. It's a seamless connection. That's why all of our architectural finishes relate very nicely to what's happening outside.”

Southern California-based management and operational services provider West Bay Senior Living was selected to manage the new senior living community.

West Bay CEO Jim Biggs said: “This is the first of several LA basin projects we are planning that will reflect Southern California values and lifestyles.”
