Hastings Borough Council in the UK has announced that construction of Churchfield Business Centre in Hollington is underway.

The two-storey project on Sidney Little Road will include 29 new business incubator units for small businesses and start-ups. These units will range from 315.6 sqft to 323.8 sqft in size.

Construction works are slated to complete next year.

Local firm Westridge Construction is building the business centre, while sustainable building specialists Allen Construction Consultancy will be managing the project.

Hastings Borough Council lead for regeneration councillor Paul Barnett said: “With COP26 having recently finished, it’s a great time to emphasise how the council is making sure its projects are sustainable.

“The incubator units will be built to a high sustainability standard and will have all sorts of features in place to encourage greener working, like electric vehicle charging points and extensive energy efficiency measures in place.

“It’s great to see the concept start to become a reality, and I look forward to seeing these units become bustling with local small businesses in the near future.”

The South East Local Enterprise Partnership is funding and supporting the Churchfield Business Centre project.

Additionally, it will receive capital from the European Regional Development Fund via the Connecting Hastings and Rother Together (CHART) programme; and Hastings Borough Council’s own capital programme and the recently announced Town Fund Programme.
