Bright Green has broken ground on its $300m cannabis manufacturing and research facility in Grants, New Mexico, the US.
The company had signed an agreement with the US Drug Enforcement Administration to build and operate a federally licensed agricultural facility to produce, distribute, and sell medical cannabis, marihuana, or its chemical constituents to research entities.

The deal also allows it to supply cannabis, marihuana as well as derivatives for research in North America to develop medical therapies.
The new 115-acre research facility will include what is claimed to be one of the world’s most advanced agricultural greenhouse ecosystems with advanced automation.
It will produce and supply cannabis as well as cannabinoids to federally licensed researchers, universities, and pharmaceutical companies in the US.
Bright Green chairman Terry Rafih said: “The work conducted by Bright Green will provide the highest quality plant-based products on the market for research by DEA-certified researchers and other federally authorized Schedule 1 drug handlers.”

Upon completion, the new research complex is expected to become legally compliant, and advanced cannabis manufacturing and research facility in North America.
New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham said: “Having another world-class research facility right here in New Mexico would advance our state’s legacy of leading the nation in cutting-edge science.
“Bright Green can provide a real opportunity for this part of New Mexico and this new industry in our state.”
