Property developer CEG has secured planning consent for a modern builders merchant facility for Travis Perkins at the Vesuvius development off Sandy Lane, Worksop, the UK.

The company will construct the 1,933m2 facility and lease it to retail company Travis Perkins.

The project is expected to create 20 new jobs and deliver a new supply chain facility to the existing local business.

Currently, CEG is managing the regeneration of the 17.75ha Vesuvius site and has planning permission for over 200,000ft2 of employment space.

Slated for completion this summer, the first phase of commercial development provides a multi-tenanted 46,000ft2 of 16 industrial units ranging from 1,200 to 5,050ft2.

It will also include retail space near the recently opened Asda superstore and Asda petrol fuelling station. The first pre-let has already been agreed with Burger King.

The remaining phases of the development will also deliver large employment units that include pre-let, design and build development for light industry, office, storage and distribution requirements.

The units in the second phase range from 5,000 to 30,000ft2.. The third and fourth phase units range from 20,000 to 50,000ft2 and from 16,500 to 100,000ft2 respectively.

Furthermore, CEG stated that the Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service is constructing a new fire station at the project site.

CEG investment manager Lawrence Escott said: “The regeneration of this brownfield site is proving a huge success. Vesuvius is fast becoming a thriving commercial destination and Travis Perkins will be a welcome addition.

“We will soon complete the largest speculative scheme of this scale and quality in Worksop for many years and we continue to see strong interest in the space from well-known national trade and industrial occupiers alongside smaller, local businesses.”
