CCG Construction Group has announced that the first phase of housing for the Granton Waterfront development received approval from the councillors in Edinburgh.

As part of Edinburgh’s commitment to be net-zero carbon by 2030, the Granton Waterfront regeneration is expected to lead the way in sustainable development.

The City of Edinburgh Council in partnership with the design team partners Cooper Cromar and Carbon Futures will deliver a masterplan of around 450 high-quality, affordable homes.

The council along with the surrounding community will develop the designs for the detailed planning application in the next few months.

The plan will include about 3,500 new homes, of 35% will be affordable, a school, medical centre, creative and commercial space, new cycling and walking routes and enhanced sustainable transport connections with the city.

The project is expected to make a significant contribution to Edinburgh’s target to become a net-zero carbon city by 2030.

With an overall gross development value of around £1.3bn, the council is committed to investing nearly £196m to speed up the regeneration.
