House builder Weston Group subsidiary British Offsite has broken ground on a 137,000ft2 offsite panel factory in Essex.

Planned to be commissioned in late 2022, the new British Offsite factory is being built at the Horizon 120 Business Park in Great Notley, Braintree.

The factory will comprise production and distribution of building components for house-builders, including its UniPanel system of walls, roofs, light gauge panels and floors.

Additionally, the factory will offer internal fitout modules such as bathroom, kitchen and bedroom fittings. These will be sold under the BOS Fitout brand.

British Offsite also plans to install a £6m production line from Swedish contractor Randek.

British Offsite managing director Shaun Weston said: “This new state-of-the-art facility will be one of the largest of its kind within the UK property industry, with one of the most advanced light-gauge steel assembly lines in Europe, meaning we can deliver precise products more quickly for our customers.”

The new building will be an expansion to the company’s existing factory and head office at the nearby Skyline Industrial Estate.

Last month, Weston Homes started construction on new £27.5m Manor Lane site in Feltham, Hounslow, England.

At Manor Lane, the new apartments will range from 535ft² to 1020ft² in size. They will feature Weston Homes’ all-inclusive specification that includes integrated appliances and quartz stone worktops in the kitchens, among others.
