The West Park initiative encompasses the construction of six new student accommodation blocks, alongside the refurbishment of an existing block, all situated within the university’s Streatham campus.

This development aims to provide housing for 1,849 students.

The architectural design is being handled by Willmore Iles Architects and Architype, with a focus on meeting Passivhaus standards to enhance energy efficiency.

Furthermore, the project is set to achieve accreditation under the WELL Community standard, which aims to foster a positive environment for the health and well-being of its residents.

Bouygues UK chair and CEO Philippe Bernard said: “We are delighted to lead the construction for the Passivhaus West Park development, a project that symbolises innovation and sustainability in student accommodation.

“Bouygues UK is committed to delivering exemplary projects that meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and resident well-being, and we are grateful for the trust of our client. We look forward to collaborating with UPP to bring this vision to life.”

The first group of students is anticipated to move into the new accommodation in September 2027, with the entire facility expected to be fully occupied by 2028. The project is planned for completion over a three-year timeline.

UPP CEO Elaine Hewitt said: “We are delighted to reach financial close on this major project and to be working with Bouygues UK on the delivery of such an innovative scheme.”

In June this year, Bouygues UK received a £119m ($160.9m) contract to build two new educational facilities for Cardiff and Vale College in South Wales.

The two new facilities are set to receive their first students in 2027.
