Construction firm BAM has handed over the first phase of the £41m Health Innovation One building to Lancaster University in the UK.
The Health Innovation One building will act as an innovation hub, where the University’s Medical School and Division of Health Research and external organisations will conduct research.

The new building features teaching, offices and shared workspace facilities and several meeting rooms and event spaces including a dedicated Innovation Lab and Business Lounge.
The new on-site café HIVE is claimed to include a menu focussed on fresh food and healthier options and is expected to be affordable for those on a budget.
The university has also planned to bring in various workplace wellbeing initiatives for employees and tenants to encourage healthier and balanced lifestyles.

With Covid-19 restrictions in place, the planned opening for many staff and co-locating businesses have been delayed. But, some teaching will start in the new building from this month, followed by other activities, permitted by circumstances.
Lancaster University vice-chancellor Andy Schofield said: “The Health Innovation Campus is a project of strategic importance for Lancaster University.
“It will provide a cutting-edge facility for our medical students, a home for the Division of Health Research and an exciting innovation hub, where academics will work with cross-sector partners on systems and products which improve health outcomes.
“The strategy for the new campus has been developed in line with the aims of the UK’s Industrial Strategy and the NHS long-term plan and fits in with Lancaster’s civic commitment to its region.
“The University has been working on this important initiative for a number of years now and I am delighted to see the first phase now complete, at a time when working together on projects aimed at improving health is more important than ever.”
