The facility will serve as the new home for Hockey Australia’s centre of excellence.

Three construction companies, Georgiou Group, ADCO Constructions, and Built have advanced to the tender stage for this project.

The facility, funded by the WA Government, will include four outdoor pitches, with at least two meeting international standards.

It will also include a specialist high-performance training centre.

The facility will feature an indoor hockey centre and a stadium that has a capacity to accommodate up to 10,000 spectators in event mode.

Modern broadcast capabilities, community change rooms, and administration offices for Hockey WA and Hockey Australia will be integrated to support both high-performance and community needs.

In 2022, the WA Government successfully secured Perth as the host city for hockey events for the next 18 years. This achievement will support four Olympic cycles and is also expected to strengthen the state’s hockey heritage.

WA Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti said: “This project is another way the WA Government is promoting a culture of healthy living and participation in sport, from grassroots to elite performance for all Western Australians.

“This is a major capital project being delivered through the PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative.

“The central location at Bentley provides supporting amenities, is in close proximity to transport and work hubs, accommodation needs and provides fantastic opportunities for future growth.”
