Amazon has announced its plans to build its first robotics fulfilment centre in Louisiana’s north Shreveport to enhance its logistics operations.
The company will soon commence the construction of the Shreveport fulfilment centre, which is expected to be opened in September next year.

With a capital investment of nearly $200m, the project is expected to generate more than 1,000 full-time jobs and around 800 construction jobs.
The project will be executed in an LED (Louisiana Economic Development) Certified Site, situated in the Hunter Industrial Park, near Interstates 20, 49 and 220.
This facility will be built on a 650,000-ft2 foundation and will feature modern robotics technology, inventory, and shipping operations across all its levels.

From the local jobs we bring, to the local people we employ, train, and upskill, our business is made up of people from communities like Shreveport.”
At the new facility, the Amazon workers will sort, pack and ship smaller customer orders, including electronics, books, toys, and other household items.
In August last year, LED and its economic development partners initiated formal discussions with the company, proposing the construction of a Shreveport fulfilment centre.
Amazon was offered a competitive incentive package, including the wide-ranging workforce solutions of LED FastStart, from the State of Louisiana to finalise the project.
During 2022 and 2023, the company will be entitled to a $5m performance-based grant, payable in two instalments, for adjusting the cost of the site’s infrastructure.
Furthermore, the Caddo Parish Industrial Development Board is currently negotiating a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes, or PILOT, agreement with Amazon.
This facility will turn out to be the biggest of seven Amazon facilities functioning, announced or under construction in the State.
Until now, Amazon has committed an investment of over $600m, including seven Whole Foods Market locations in Louisiana.
