Spanish conglomerate Acciona has been awarded a contract for a A$137m ($97.4m) highway upgrade project in Australia.
The scope of the project will include an upgrade of a 6km road section of the Bruce Highway in Queensland, Australia.

Acciona will be responsible for upgrading the highway from four to six lanes between Caboolture-Bribie Island Road and Pumicestone Road, north of Brisbane.
It will also include the demolition and reconstruction of four bridges and many other auxiliary works including improving creek crossings to reinforce them against flooding.
Jointly funded by the Australian government (80%) and the Queensland government (20%), the project forms Construction Contract 1 of the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Road’s broader Bruce Highway Upgrade between Caboolture-Bribie Island Road and Steve Irwin Way (Exit 163).
The project is said to be one of the primary routes in the north of Brisbane and will also contribute to the economic recovery of the Sunshine Coast.

By GlobalDataSimultaneously, Acciona has won two public highways contracts worth €20m in Galicia, Spain.
Under the first contract worth €9.8m, the company as part of a joint venture will be responsible for remodelling the PK 5+000 junction on the AP-9V highway into Vigo.
The other contract worth €9.9m includes maintenance and operation of the highways in Sector LU-01 in the province of Lugo.
The Vigo city council has awarded the remodelling of the PK 5+000 junction. The work will also include the construction of new access roads and routes from Vigo Urzaiz station, the connection with the Lepanto tunnel, along with the necessary installations and cordoning.
The second contract, which includes the provision of repair and maintenance services, was awarded by the National Department of Highways.
