A new museum to honour the greatest US college football players The College Football Hall of Fame, is set to open in downtown Atlanta, US on Saturday.

The $68.5m museum has been designed by Atlanta-based architecture firm tvsdesign.

Tvsdesign has also designed the interiors of the museum located on the Georgia World Congress Center campus.

The 94,000ft² facility will house historic and contemporary artifacts, interactive multimedia displays, children’s activities, a theater featuring an ultra-high-definition film, meeting facilities and private event spaces.

A football-shaped rotunda structure has been placed above the entrance, which is perched on a Y-shaped custom-formed concrete column and offers views into and out of the hall.

"The galleries have interactive exhibits and are equipped with a 52ft touchscreen wall and a RFID-enabled, multi-touch system."

The building features various galleries, which culminate with the Hall of Fame shrine on the third level of the building.

The galleries have interactive exhibits and are equipped with a 52ft touchscreen wall and a RFID-enabled, multi-touch system that will allow fans to interact with videos and images of their preferred college football teams.

Visitors can get a glimpse of the personalised touch points from the 55ft-wide, 29ft-high entry wall itself, where the college football team’s helmet lights up.

The building’s exhibit area is anchored by a turf field spanning 45 yards, which has been designed to host interactive play and special events.

The hall has a maximum accommodation capacity of 1,200 to host events and the officials are expecting that it will attract 500,000 visitors a year.

Apart from these features, the street level of the facility houses retail and restaurant space.

tvsdesign Principal Kevin Gordon said: "We are so proud to play a part in bringing a legendary experience to the epicenter of college football."
