DPR Construction (DPR) has completed structural steel erection on the new $60m Shriners for Children Medical Center in Pasadena, California, US.

The company broke ground on the new specialty outpatient medical centre in May 2015. It is expected to open in mid-2017.

DPR has collaborated with CO Architects & SRG to construct the new outpatient care facility that will have an ambulatory surgical centre to accommodate the centre’s clinical, diagnostic, outpatient surgery and rehabilitation units.

As part of the project, two one-storey existing structures will be demolished.

"This milestone marks a major accomplishment in terms of safety and teamwork and we look forward to the next phase of work."

It will also include about 164,000ft² of new construction and three levels of subterranean parking with 250 stalls as well as green roof terraces.

DPR Construction senior project manager Ryan Lippmann said: "We are pleased with the amount of work completed in this short timeframe. This milestone marks a major accomplishment in terms of safety and teamwork and we look forward to the next phase of work.
