Bird Design-Build Construction has secured a contract from Canada Post to design and build its new postal processing facility at Vancouver International Airport in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada.
Canada Post is investing $200m in the new multi-purpose processing facility and associated equipment.

Construction of the processing facility, spanning 700,000ft2, is slated to begin by the end of 2011 and the facility is expected to start operations in 2014.
It will process advertising mail, packets, parcels and letters under one roof and will be constructed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standards.
