The UK’s construction industry registered a 0.4% drop in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 0.58% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.59% share in January 2022, recording an increase of 0.07% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 48.92% in January 2022, registering a 6.19% decline over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.94% share, a decrease of 5.97% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 14.25%, registering a 1.92% rise from December 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 9.41%, down 10.26% over the previous month.

 

Top five construction companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 21.26% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s construction industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Danfoss posted 48 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a rise of 6.67% over the previous month, followed by Ferrovial with 39 jobs and a 457.14% growth. General Electric with 24 IT jobs and Kier Group with 24 jobs, recorded a 71.43% flat growth and a 45.45% decrease, respectively, while Arup Group recorded an increase of 11.76% with 19 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.4%, down by 0.4% from December 2022. Mid Level positions with a 19.35% share, registered a decline of 6.49% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.17% share, down 9.26% over December 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.08%, recording a month-on-month decline of 33.33%.
