Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive internet of things-related hiring activity
Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 15%, emerged as the top internet of things-related job roles within the construction industry in Q3 2023, with new job postings drop by 29% quarter-on-quarter. Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q3 2023, with new job postings dropping by 27% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent internet of things roles include Management Occupations with a 9% share in Q3 2023, Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in construction industry accounted for 51% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q3 2023 were Valmont Industries, Vinci, Mid-America Apartment Communities, ABB, and Honeywell International. Together they accounted for a combined share of 51% of all internet of things-related new jobs in the construction industry.
Valmont Industries posted 478 internet of things-related new jobs in Q3 2023, Vinci 287 jobs, Mid-America Apartment Communities 198 jobs, ABB 143 jobs, and Honeywell International 113 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 54.99% share of total new job postings, Q3 2023
The largest share of internet of things-related new job postings in the construction industry in Q3 2023 was in the US with 54.99% followed by Germany (13.47%) and India (5.22%). The share represented by the US was two percentage points higher than the 52.55% share it accounted for in Q2 2023.
