Computer and Mathematical Occupations drive internet of things-related hiring activity

Computer and Mathematical Occupations, with a share of 22%, emerged as the top internet of things-related job roles within the construction industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 5% quarter-on-quarter. Management Occupations came in second with a share of 12% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 9% over the previous quarter.

The other prominent internet of things roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 9% share in Q4 2023, Architecture and Engineering Occupations with a 8% share of new job postings.

Top five companies in construction industry accounted for 36% of hiring activity

The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Honeywell International, Mid-America Apartment Communities, Vinci, ABB, and Johnson Controls International. Together they accounted for a combined share of 36% of all internet of things-related new jobs in the construction industry.

Honeywell International posted 162 internet of things-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Mid-America Apartment Communities 148 jobs, Vinci 131 jobs, ABB 130 jobs, and Johnson Controls International 75 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.

Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 37.89% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023

The largest share of internet of things-related new job postings in the construction industry in Q4 2023 was in the US with 37.89% followed by India (18.24%) and Germany (7.21%). The share represented by the US was four percentage points lower than the 42.38% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
