When entering a station, the position of the tracks is further pushed to one side of the tunnel making space for construction of an upper and lower platform. A 16m long x 7m high opening connects the secant shaft with the platforms in the tunnel. As is the case for the tunnels, the two platforms are independent and connected by emergency stairs at both ends. The platforms are separated from the tunnels by metal and glass end walls with train access through automatic doors synchronised with the train doors similar to the system adopted on London’s Jubilee Line and Hong Kong’s Airport and Tung Chung Lines. Below illustrates the platorm section and shaft/station plan
Emergency exits from the shaft will be through a double row of emergency stairs which are separated from the rest of the shaft by concrete walls and fireproof doors.
