US-based engineering services provider Jacobs has announced the start of construction on a new $186.6m Cyber and Engineering Academic Center (CEAC) at the United States Military Academy.
Located at the intersection of Thayer Walk and Cullum Road, the new 136,000ft2 facility will equip cadets at West Point with the knowledge, skills and resources which they require to succeed in the technological landscape.

The new CEAC is a modern academic facility that will house the engineering laboratory functions of the Departments of Civil & Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, and Systems Engineering together under one roof.
This will support multidisciplinary project-based engineering education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for US Military Academy (USMA) cadets.
The facility was designed by a joint venture (JV) between a technical services firm Jacobs and EwingCole with a focus on innovation and collaboration while integrating the USMA’s traditions and history.
It will also include laboratories along with support space, project fabrication spaces, high bay areas with an overhead lift, workspaces, conference rooms, spray booths, and an assortment of other advanced capabilities for our engineering disciplines.

By GlobalDataThis will also provide space for all departments, supported by specialised labs for robotics, robotics development, mechatronics, prototype development, project support, high-end fabrication, electrical engineering, computer science and systems engineering.
Jacobs executive vice president Ken Gilmartin said: “We’re honoured to be a part of this historic moment.
“The CEAC will support West Point’s leadership in the development and application of STEM-based solutions to address the most difficult global warfare challenges, while also supporting the U.S. Army’s cyber mission.”
Construction on the new CEAC facility is expected to be completed in fall 2024.
