Additionally, Ashghal has assigned contracts for road and infrastructure works in residential areas such as Izghawa and Al Thumid and initiated landscaping projects at Qatar University.

Ashghal plans to launch tenders for eight further projects in the upcoming phase, estimated at QR7bn.

These will cover strategic initiatives, including the design and construction of both Eastern and Western Strategic Tunnels for surface and groundwater drainage in southern regions and further infrastructure developments to support land plots for citizens in northern and southern areas.

According to statements from senior officials, all awarded projects have gone to Qatari firms in line with Ashghal’s policy of promoting local industry participation.

The Authority states that selection processes follow Tenders Law provisions, focusing on technical competence and financial stability while prioritising national companies.

Engineering Services Department management outlined that procedures adhere to requirements for transparency and equal opportunity.

Officials also noted that Ashghal’s project portfolio addresses roads, buildings, drainage services, and public utilities across several regions.

The development plan aims to respond to local needs while reinforcing national economic growth through partnerships with private sector entities.

The redevelopment contract for Hamad General Hospital alone is valued at about QR1.179bn.

Ashghal maintains that its current suite of projects aligns with broader urban and economic strategies set out by the state, seeking to advance infrastructure networks and mitigate risks related to water accumulation through improvements such as stormwater drainage tunnels.
