The announcement was made by the Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Saudi Water Partnership Company, the President of the Saudi Water Authority Eng. Abdullah bin Ibrahim Al-Abdulkareem, during a ceremony at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture HQ in Riyadh.
The launch event was attended by a number of important figures, and distinguished officials representing government entities, along with executive leaders and CEOs from the public and private sectors.
The launch of the new identity marks a milestone in SHARAKAT’s development journey since its establishment in 2003. The initial founding phase laid the cornerstone for its operations, followed by a significant qualitative expansion in 2017, when the Company assumed its role as the principal off-taker of all water in the Kingdom. This phase encompassed desalinated water, transmission, and treatment projects, in addition to small-scale plants, collection networks, and strategic water reservoir, contributing to the expansion of SHARAKAT’s scope of work and the clarification of its role within the water ecosystem as a key enabler of private sector participation and the creation of further strategic partnerships.
In this regard, SHARAKAT chief executive officer Eng. Khaled Z. AlQureshi, stated that the new corporate identity initiative is part of the Company’s updated strategy, which strengthens the concept of partnerships, keeps pace with the Company’s evolution and growing impact, and contributes to the integration of roles between the public and private sectors.
He further explained that the new identity is rooted in national belonging, positions sustainability as a guiding framework for SHARAKAT’s operations, and is anchored in public-private Partnerships, while reflecting the essence of the Company’s role within the water ecosystem.
Eng. AlQureshi emphasised that the Saudi Water Partnership Company represents a fundamental pillar of the water sector and a key driver of economic development in the Kingdom through empowering the private sector, attracting investments, enhancing operational efficiency, promoting long-term sustainability, and achieving the objectives of the National Water Strategy and Saudi Vision 2030 toward a sustainable water future.
It is worth noting that the Saudi Water Partnership Company (SHARAKAT) serves as the principal off-taker of water and is responsible for procuring water infrastructure projects in partnership with the private sector. The total investment value of its current projects exceeds SAR56 billion, fully financed by the private sector, where the contracted water capacities exceed ten million cubic meters per day of desalinated water, in addition to more than one million cubic meters per day of treated water, supporting the sustainability of water resources and enhancing the efficiency of their utilisation.
