
Construction company NCC has been selected for a contract by Svenska kraftnät, a Swedish electricity transmission system operator, to plan and build power lines in Västra Götaland County.
The contract, valued at approximately Skr7.5bn ($790.77m), involves the development of over 450km of new overhead power lines, the extension of an existing corridor, and the dismantling of current lines.

The project is projected to span a decade, with planning set to commence immediately.
Subsequent phases will involve project planning and indicative costing, followed by construction contracts for each subphase.
NCC Infrastructure head Kenneth Nilsson said: “NCC has important expertise in the transmission of energy and is accustomed to managing large and multifaceted projects.
“The strategic partnering agreement with Svenska kraftnät will enable us to achieve economies of scale and important knowledge transfer that will benefit all subprojects in this comprehensive assignment.”

By GlobalDataIn the Gothenburg region, NCC has previously completed the power line between Ingelkärr and Stenkullen and has recently embarked on another project with Svenska kraftnät to plan and build five gas-insulated substations in Stockholm.
Simultaneously, NCC has been tasked by Glostrup Forsyning and Glostrup Municipality to construct an underground rainwater basin west of Copenhagen, Denmark, aimed at mitigating future flooding risks.
This project is valued at just over Skr160m.
As part of this project, NCC will also upgrade connecting roads for Glostrup Municipality.
NCC Infrastructure section manager Bjarki Finnbogason said: “We are proud to be able to contribute to the realisation of a project that not only protects the city from flooding but also takes a holistic approach to urban development.
“We look forward to working closely with both Glostrup Municipality and Glostrup Forsyning.”
The rainwater basin will have a capacity of nearly 8,000m³ and will be constructed using large tunnel elements made of fibreglass-reinforced polyester, known as GAP elements.
A pumping station and new inlet and outlet pipes will also be installed.
Glostrup Forsyning board chair Søren Enemark said: “With this basin, we are taking a big step towards protecting Glostrup from the heavier rains we are already experiencing – and which we expect to see more of in the future.
“It is an investment in future infrastructure and for a more resilient city.”
The rainwater basin is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, with road upgrades set for completion in early 2027.
The order will be recorded in the NCC Infrastructure business area in the third quarter of 2025.
