Larsen and Turbo (Oman) has won a contract worth OMR36.27m ($94.1m) from the tender committee of the Special Economic Authority at Duqm (SEZAD) for the development of the third package of Duqm airport project.
Located in the Al Wusta Region of Oman, the Duqm Jaaluni airport is currently under construction and is expected to be completed this year.
The third package includes the construction of a 5,700m² passenger terminal that could process 500,000 passengers a year, a 37m-high air traffic control (ATC) tower and a 8,000m² air cargo terminal that can handle 250,000t of cargo a year.
The ATC tower features a control building, air cargo building, firefighting building, airport maintenance and services equipment building, and the central services building, which houses the central cooling unit, the generators and the power transformers.
The committee has also awarded a number of other tenders, including a detailed study of the design of the northern side of the industrial area, external boundary, car parking area, electromechanical connections for the building, levelling works, pavement of parking area around the building and landscaping.
In addition to these, it also awarded a contract for developing water network and consultancy services for the initial design of the bulk and liquid material terminal and its associated works at Duqm Port.
