Liverpool Football Club (LFC) has selected British construction group Carillion as the preferred bidder for the expansion of Anfield stadium.
The expansion programme, which is likely to cost £75m, will add 8,300 seats to to the main stand, increasing its capacity to 54,000.

The stadium is located in Liverpool, England, and is currently the seventh largest stadium in the country.
Following the expansion, Anfield stadium will be the third largest ground in England after Old Trafford which has a capacity of 75,731 and Emirates Stadium with more than 60,000 seats.
The project will also include improvements to the surrounding public realms but they will not affect the statue of Liverpool’s Scottish manager Bill Shankly.
Carillion was quoted by Express & Star as saying that it will involve an innovative programme to reduce the impact of the construction work, by keeping as much as possible of the existing main stand in use throughout the process.

The project, which is awaiting planning permission, is likely to start this year and take approximately 20 months to complete.
