The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment’s (CABE) Crossrail design review panel has backed designs by Weston Williamson for a London rail project.
The panel said the new Paddington Hammersmith & City line concourse, complete with decorative glazing, should be developed by Crossrail in collaboration with architects, to enhance the distinctive character of the station.

The concourse design, to the south of Paddington Station, is not included in the current application.
The development of the concourse calls for shifting a taxi rank on Departures Road.
The new taxi facilities, which will feature a ramp with temporary cladding off Bishops Bridge Road, will be integrated into a commercial over-site development.
The cladding might be in place for some time as there is no fixed schedule for commercial development, which is the main reason the panel has recommended Crossrail reconsider the perforated metal cladding.
