US-based Aedas has designed an environmentally friendly National Football League (NFL) stadium in California that will have a seating capacity of 75,000.

The new asymmetrical bowl-shaped facility will feature the latest energy-efficient and water-conserving fixtures and use recycled water for all landscaping.

The shape of the facility will improve the seating positions and sight lines for both general admission and premium fans.

During construction, the stadium bowl, an innovative approach adopted to reduce the amount of steel needed for structural support by 40%, has maintained the current budget at $800m.

The stadium will have nearly three million square feet of mixed-use development including entertainment, retail, commercial and office space.

The project will be complete before the 2011 American football season.
