Ireland-based Ballymore and Malaysian Eco World, developers for the Embassy Gardens in London, have unveiled plans for a suspended swimming pool named ‘Sky Pool’ that will link a pair of luxury apartment blocks.
The outdoor pool will be suspended 115ft (35m) in the air and join the two residential buildings at the 10th storey.
Planned to have a 20cm-thick glass bottom, the pool will allow residents to swim from one building to the next.
The pool has been designed to be entirely transparent and structure-free, at 25m-long, 5m-wide and 3m-deep, with a depth of 1.2m, the developers said.
It has been designed by Arup Associates and includes specialist inputs from Eckersley O’Callaghan, and aquarium designers Reynolds.
The designs also include provision for ‘Sky Deck’, which will be developed at the top of the two buildings.
In addition to a spa, summer bar and orangery for residents to relax in, the deck will provide views across the UK capital.
Embassy Gardens is a Thames-side development at Nine Elms on London’s South Bank. It will include around 2,000 homes, as well as stunning landscaped gardens and a riverfront walkway threading from EmbassyGardens to Battersea Park, new bars and restaurants and al fresco and community spaces.
The buildings joined by the Sky Pool are part of the development’s second phase, led by Eco World Ballymore, and will be released onto the market in September.
