Obayashi, along with its Taiwanese subsidiary and Farglory Construction, has secured a TWD15.5bn ($507.2m) contract to build a multi-use stadium and a commercial building as part of the Taipei Dome project in Taipei, Taiwan.

The project includes the construction of the dome stadium, as well as a shopping mall, a hotel, an office building and a cultural entertainment square.

Farglory Group will develop the site under a build, operate and transfer arrangement while Obayashi will take charge of construction, around 1,600,000m3 of excavation and roofing work.

The 213,243m2 Taipei Dome project includes the 29,417m2 Dome Stadium and a 62,272m2 shopping mall facility.

Design for the project will be provided by Dennis LAU and NG Chun Man Architects and Engineers of Hong Kong, and Archasia Design Group of Taiwan.

Populous will oversee the design of the Dome, while the structural design will be carried out by Supertech Consultants International of Taiwan.
