Imperial College London has submitted plans for the second phase of its redevelopment of the former BBC site in White City, west London, UK.
The plan includes the development of an 87,900m2 mixed-use scheme that will house academic and research facilities, as well as commercial and residential space, around a new London square. Under the first phase of the project, four ten-storey accommodation blocks are being built for 600 students at the White City site, while a 34-storey landmark residential tower block is also planned.

Architects Aukett Fitzroy Robinson and PLP Architecture have designed the scheme, which will be called Imperial West.
Imperial West project director John Anderson said: "Imperial West will enable the College to expand upon the success of its South Kensington site to create a second, open access academic campus that provides the physical infrastructure for world-class research and teaching, leading-edge facilities for business development and technology transfer.
"We have refined the designs of the residential building, the academic health building and the office building to respond positively to residents’ comments as well as to the requirements of the planning authorities and Greater London Authority," Anderson added.
The development will include a health and biomedical research building, a building for technology start-ups, postgraduate facilities, one, two and three-bedroom private homes, a four-star hotel, retail, a pharmacy, healthcare services and a nursery. The first phase of the project at Wood Lane Studios is underway and is scheduled for completion by August 2012.
