UK-based construction services provider Balfour Beatty has won three commercial building contracts worth a total of £100m in the UK.
The company has secured an £18m contract from Land Securities to build a five-storey residential and retail scheme in Glasgow city centre. Balfour Beatty also won a £57m two-phase contract to construct AXA Real Estate’s office development in London, dubbed Sixty London. The third project is a £25m contract to build an 11-storey office building in the heart of London’s financial centre for Viridis Real Estate Service on behalf of its client Emmatown Properties.
Balfour Beatty CEO Ian Tyler said that the company is delighted to see encouraging signs of renewed activity in the London commercial sector and to be given the opportunity to demonstrate its diverse capabilities.
"We have been able to harness technology to create innovative solutions for our customers and look forward to working with them in delivering these first-class schemes," Tyler said.
The company said a high percentage of the building services engineering will be implemented using building information modelling (BIM) and off-site prefabrication solutions to reduce waste and increase efficiencies on both London schemes. All three projects are scheduled for completion in 2013.
