Aker Solutions and Aker BP have signed long-term lease agreements with property developer Hinna Park Utvikling (HPU) for office buildings in Stavanger, Norway.
As agreed, the two sister companies will lease a total area of 48,000m² in the HPU-owned development project named ‘Valhall’ for ten years.
The development project will feature two six-storey buildings with a total area of 71,000m². The space leased by Aker Solutions and Aker BP is divided between the two separate buildings.
Valhall will also include an area for third-party tenants.
Aker BP has also signed a 15-year extended lease agreement for a specially designed collaboration centre in one of the buildings.
HPU will build the $200m (Nkr2bn) project in collaboration with main contractor HENT. Construction works are scheduled to start in September, subject to public approvals.
The first phase of Valhall is expected to be complete by the end of 2024 while the remaining space will be finished before mid-2025.
Aker Solutions Stavanger Project Resources senior vice-president and location manager Marius Gjære said: “This is a great and important milestone for Aker BP and Aker Solutions. Through the agreement with HPU, we secure long-term, modern, and future-oriented offices for the good of the Aker companies in Stavanger. It also reflects our intention to continue with a high activity level for many years to come.”
Aker BP Stavanger office manager and Operations and Field Development senior vice-president Ine Dolve said: “The new office complex is tailor-made for flexibility and collaboration. The future offices will support our ambition to be at the forefront in the transformation of the oil and gas industry and will, among other things, include an integrated operation centre for remote operations of our offshore fields.”
