The US’s construction industry registered a 0.8% rise in IT hiring activity in February 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.94% in February 2022 when compared with January 2022.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 5.73% share in February 2022, recording an increase of 0.39% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 49.75% in February 2022, registering an 18.05% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed an 18.71% share, a decrease of 7.09% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 13.23%, registering a 53.34% decline from January 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 7.9%, down 54.22% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in February 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 4.76% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s construction industry during February 2022 over January 2022.

Black & Veatch posted 423 IT jobs in February 2022 and registered a rise of 3.93% over the previous month, followed by Honeywell International with 171 jobs and a 10.94% drop. Komatsu with 149 IT jobs and Cummins with 124 jobs, recorded a 29.72% decline and a 0.81% growth, respectively, while Installed Building Products recorded an increase of 18.75% with 114 job postings during February 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in February 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.46%, down by 16.73% from January 2022. Mid Level positions with a 23.23% share, registered a decline of 50.16% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.05% share, down 14.08% over January 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 3.26%, recording a month-on-month decline of 30.86%.
