India’s construction industry registered a 6.8% drop in IT hiring activity in May 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.9% in May 2022 when compared with April 2022.
Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 10.88% share in May 2022, recording a decrease of 1.13% over the last three-month average share.

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.23% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s construction industry in May 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 63.5% in May 2022, registering an 8.31% decline over the previous month.
2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 16.37% share, an increase of 12.12% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in India’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 13.4% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of India’s construction industry during May 2022 over April 2022.
General Electric posted 81 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a drop of 22.86% over the previous month, followed by Honeywell International with 70 jobs and a 9.38% growth. NV Bekaert with 44 IT jobs and Caterpillar with 29 jobs, recorded a 13.73% decline and a 29.27% decrease, respectively, while Jones Lang LaSalle recorded a decline of 6.67% with 28 job postings during May 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 56.86%, down by 0.39% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 35.4% share, registered a decline of 16.23% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.52% share, flat growth over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.22%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
