Australia’s construction industry registered a 2.0% rise in IT hiring activity in January 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 4.46% in January 2022 when compared with December 2022.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 3.57% share in January 2022, recording a decrease of 0.28% over the last three-month average share.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 43.59% in January 2022, registering a 41.67% growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 21.15% share, an increase of 57.14% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 13.46%, registering a 16% decline from December 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 12.82%, up 400% over the previous month.

 

Top five construction companies in Australia’s IT recruitment activity in January 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 128.89% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Australia’s construction industry during January 2022 over December 2022.

Monadelphous Group posted 56 IT jobs in January 2022 and registered a rise of 40% over the previous month, followed by Willow Technology Corporation with 21 jobs and a flat growth. Komatsu with 15 IT jobs and Downer EDI with 6 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 20% growth, respectively, while Scentre Group recorded a flat growth with 5 job postings during January 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in January 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 76.92%, up by 62.16% from December 2022. Entry Level positions with a 16.03% share, registered an increase of 257.14% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 7.05% share, down 59.26% over December 2022.
