Squire & Partners has won planning permission for the Art’otel scheme in Hoxton, London from the local council despite opposition.
The 18-storey hotel development comprises 350 rooms and features bronze-coloured anodised aluminium cladding.
The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) in the UK has criticised the scheme and has expressed concern about the maintenance and low-quality appearance of the facade.
The hotel is expected to replace alternative arts collective The Foundry, which is expected to relocate to new premises.
The developer, Aspirations, is expected to begin work on the scheme soon.
