Kevin Schopfer has designed a floating mega-structure to be built in Boston Harbor, US.

The mixed-use structure, Boston Arcology, will accommodate 15,000 people in hotels, offices, retail spaces, museums and a new city hall.

The scheme dubbed as a “city within a city” will be built using buoyant concrete cells that allow the structure to stay afloat.

Elevators and moving walkways will be the mode of transportation – there will be no cars on the island.

Sustainable elements such as wind turbines, solar panels and water turbines will be incorporated in the design to help achieve LEED building certification.
