Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, in collaboration with Lend Lease, will design the Barangaroo site in Sydney.
The practice will transform the former East Darling Harbour into a 430,000m² commercial and business precinct with 30,000m² of retail area.
Half of the site will be interspersed with open spaces and waterfront public domains, with a new Headland Park at the northern end of the site.
Public spaces include a large southern cove; the building links Sydney’s past and future and is designed to resemble tall ships.
Barangaroo will be a climate-positive precinct.
Construction is expected to begin in late 2011 with the Headland Park expected to open in late 2014.
