A development application has been submitted to protect Paddington Town Hall in Sydney, Australia, from seismic tremors.
Sydney City Council intends to protect the structure’s iconic clock tower with seismic stiffening through a A$2m refurbishment proposal.
The refurbishment will include the replacement of corrugated roofs, repairs to the façade, painting, planting and rainwater recycling.
Also the interior of Chauvel Theatre’s will undergo extensive repair and paint works as well as roof insulation works.
Paddington Town Hall was built in 1891. The Clock Tower was built in 1905 to commemorate the coronation of King Edward VII.
