Rafael Viñoly’s master plan for New Domino in Brooklyn, New York, has been submitted for planning.
The 260,000m² mixed-use scheme will create 2,200 affordable homes and 1.6ha of public park on a site along the Brooklyn riverfront.
The scheme is expected to transform an unused industrial site that was formerly a sugar refinery.
Viñoly was commissioned in 2005 to oversee the scheme, which will retain the original refinery complex adapted for mixed use along with a blocks of flats.
Four residential complexes in varying lengths and slender proportions offer views of the city.
The project has entered the New York uniform land use review procedure public review process, whose vote the scheme will be granted planning approval.
