Debt-ridden conglomerate Dubai World has begun work on the stalled London Gateway Port in Essex, UK.

The project, touted to be the largest combined deep-sea port and logistics park in Europe, will be kept under review.

The company also revealed that they have purchased the 1,000 acres of land required for the port along with Royal Dutch Shell’s remaining interest in the project for £136m ($217m).

A 9.5-million-square-foot business park is also planned.
