Construction work on Glasgow’s National Indoor Sports Arena and Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in Glasgow, UK, is now underway.

The facility is scheduled to host the badminton and cycling events at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The scheme was designed by 3DReid architects and is being built by Sir Robert McAlpine.

The headquarters of sportscotland is expected to be relocated to the site and a number of community facilities including sports halls, five-a-side pitches, roller-skate park and a gym will be offered.

The facility is located near Celtic Park making the venue a sporting hub.

The facility is expected to be complete by 2012.
