Scottish architectural practice Reiach and Hall is to design a national nuclear archive facility in Caithness, Scotland.

The £15m ($24m) contract through a design competition organised by Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland for Dounreay Site Restoration, which in turn has been employed by the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (DSL).

The new landmark is expected to be complete in 2013.

DSL is currently carrying out the clean-up and demolition of the centre at Dounreay, which has been not used since 1994.
