Australia’s first carbon-neutral home, developed by construction company Mirvac, has been unveiled at Waverley Park in Melbourne.
The Harmony 9 home received a nine-star rating for the incorporation of various sustainability aspects such as usage of recycled construction materials and furniture.
The home features a reverse brick veneer construction – bricks on the inside while the home’s facade is clad in timber to maintain consistency in temperature.
The home is outfitted with a Smart Energy Meter, to monitor energy and water use, and is also fitted with solar panels.
The structure is heavily insulated and features double-glazed windows with timber frames sealed with natural oil.
The development has north-facing living areas and windows with shading that offers maximum ventilation.
