London practice Sheppard Robson’s new mixed-use scheme The Peak has been unveiled in South London, UK.

The 11,280m² sustainable development near the famed Victoria Station and is being built by Europe’s property investment and development Heron International.

The building has been designed to complement the adjacent 19th-century rail station.

Nine storeys of the building serve as the office block in an area of 10,400m², while 1,780m² of retail is located on the street level.

Two elevations have robust limestone-clad columns and spandrels with glass solar shading louvres between them.

The building’s prow is curved and faces Victoria Street, while an arcade on street level has been provided to increase the pavement width.

The façade design allows natural daylight to enter and features solar gain control.

The building features heat pump-based air-conditioning systems for which water is supplied through two bore wells.

Installation of photovoltaic panels and solar thermal collectors on the south façade help the collection of natural energy.
