UK practice A-lab architects has completed the construction of a new business park at the former Oslo Airport site in Oslo, Norway.
The park is being developed by IT Fornebu AS Group, a Norwegian based IT company who commissioned A- lab architects after they won a design competition in 2004.
The airport building was closed in 1998 after 60 years in use.
The design features a flexible layout for developing 28,000m² of office space by reducing the building foot print and minimal wastage involved.
The development that features four six-storey office blocks is flanked by a red cantilevered public space whose glazed frontage offers views from the building over the entrance.
The façade features an innovative exoskeleton design for each of the 3,750m² blocks.
Each block is clad in diagonal steel beams and is attached together by steel joints akin to a diamond lattice.
