International architecture firm Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) has unveiled designs for the world’s second-tallest tower, Lotte Super Tower in Seoul, South Korea.
Built by Lotte Construction, the 1,821ft, 123-storey tower will serve as Lotte’s new corporate headquarters, built near a transportation hub in Seoul.
KPF won a design competition held by owner and developer Lotte Group and has so far completed the excavation phase.
The tower design was inspired by Korean artistry and will feature a light-toned glass-clad façade with a filigree of metal for the exterior.
The tower will house retail spaces, offices and residential spaces in addition to a seven-star luxury hotel.
Public spaces will be lodged in the top four stories complete with entertainment facilities including an observation deck.
The design is expected to achieve a silver LEED accreditation.
The mixed-use project is expected to be complete in 2014 and is slated to be the world’s second-tallest building on completion.
