BDP Architects has submitted a planning application to the local council for revamping the Old Trafford cricket ground in Lancashire, UK.

The scheme will include an overall rehaul of the cricket ground and the surrounding areas, including two new grandstands with a seating capacity of 15,000 with provision for 10,000 temporary seats.

The plan involves revamping the existing pavilion, constructing of new player and media facilities, floodlights, a giant screen and a 10,000m² retail store.

The proposed redevelopment is expected to help the club procure £70m in investment and anticipates to host the 2013 Ashes Test.

The phase I development is underway and a new conference and events suite is expected to be complete in July 2010.
