A ceremony has been held prior to construction of the Digital Media City (DMC) landmark tower to be built in Seoul, South Korea.

Designed by Korean firm Samoo Architects, the €1.9bn (3.3tr won) tower will be the world’s second-tallest building on completion.

The 640m tower has 133 floors and features residences, a department store, convention centre and hotel.

The DMC landmark tower offers city residents a platform to view activities below and has a panoramic spectrum of light displays at night.

Construction is expected to be complete in 2015.

The landmark tower is located in the famed DMC, which houses over 2,000 companies.
